HISTORY

In 2005, with the support of the Yale Women’s Center’s Amy Rossborough Fellowship, Sabrina Manville ’06 and Della Sentilles ’06 started Broad Recognition as an independent feminist blog at Yale.

Later Adda Birnir ’07, Maggie Doherty ’07, and Basha Rubin ’07 wrote and maintained the blog, with occasional guest contributors.

In 2009, the blog expanded into the new Broad Recognition, an online political magazine devoted to women’s issues journalism and feminist cultural commentary. The founding editorial board included Presca Ahn ’10 as Editor-in-Chief; Adriel Saporta ’11 as Managing Editor; Alice Buttrick ’10 as Health Editor; Jessica Svendsen ’09 as Arts Editor; and Sochie Nnaemeka ’09 as Politics Editor.
